Marvin G. Johnson, age 87, of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Monday. Burial will be Wednesday in Fasken Cemetery, rural Jasper, Missouri. Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donors choice. Lake Crystal Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Marvin was born December 14, 1916 in St. Paul to Marvin A. and Stella F. (Pearson) Johnson. He graduated from St. Croix High School in Wisconsin and served in the US Marines during World War II. He lived for many years in St. Paul with the exception of a few years in California. Marvin spent 40 years driving for a number of truck lines and retired from Roadway Express in 1979. He belonged to Teamsters Local Union No. 120. On July 13, 1979, he married Mollie Madline. They have lived in Lake Crystal for the past thirteen years.
Survivors include his wife, Mollie Johnson of Lake Crystal; three children, Larry Johnson of Anoka, Richard Johnson of Pflugerville, TX, Steven Johnson of Placentia, CA; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Francis Madline of Bonney Lake, WA, Pauline Madline-Perez of St. Paul, Laura Madline Bogenreif of Minneapolis; 12 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Clarice Beattie and her husband, Robert of Forest Lake, MN; two nephews and a cousin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Vaughn and Charlene; stepson, Joseph Madline.
