Wayne A. Behnke, age 80, of Good Thunder, died Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at the Mapleton Community Home in Mapleton.
Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Interment in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Good Thunder. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Friday. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or an organization of the donors choice.
Mr. Behnke was born July 13, 1923 in Polk County, Wisconsin and was adopted at age 5 by, Louis and Martha (Born) Behnke. He married Margaret M. Fischer on October 11, 1944 in Mapleton. He was self employed as a farmer all of his life. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder and had served on the Rapidan Town Board for many years. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Behnke of Good Thunder; son, Royce Behnke and his wife, Vickie of North Mankato; daughter, Sharon Pinska and her husband, David of Woodbury; three grandchildren, Heath Behnke and fianc, Sherry Roberts of Mankato, Bret Behnke of North Mankato, and Heather Behnke of Mankato; sister, Mildred Hain and her husband, Art of Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents.
