Gina Klitzke

Gina Klitzke, age 85, of Mankato, died Friday, January 30, 2004 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Mary Iverson, officiating. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, or donors choice.

Gina was born August 31, 1918 in Benson, Minnesota. She grew up and attended school in Pequot Lakes. Gina married Ernest Erickson in 1936 at Pequot Lakes, they later divorced. She married Lester Klitzke in 1955, he died in 1956. Gina worked as a waitress, clerk at Madsons Super Valu, Coast to Coast Hardware Store, and Hoffman Floral Land all in Mankato. She was a fifty year member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Gina was a former member of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club and the Kato Hiking Club.

She loved to square dance, play cards, fish, watch the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves games, bake and cook for her family.

Gina is survived by her daughter and husband, Joan and Al Eichers of Mankato; grandson and his wife, Joel and Melissa Eichers of Chanhassen; two granddaughters, Ann Aas and her husband, Paul of Chanhassen, Christy Eichers of Eden Prairie; six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Josie, Patrick, and Jack Eichers, Ellie and Sam Aas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester and special friend, Bob Hoffman.

She will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
