Raymond Albert Richter, age 88, of Mankato, died Sunday morning, January 11, 2004, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Daniel Basel officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
Raymond was born on June 3, 1915, in Mapleton, to Albert and Elsie (Brandt) Richter. He was a graduate of Mapleton High School. Raymond was united in marriage to Stella Seltenreich on March 28, 1937, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. Following their marriage, they resided in Minnesota Lake, where they farmed for seventeen years. They moved to Mankato in 1949. Raymond later was employed with Continental Can for twenty-four years, and retired in 1977. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato, and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Audrey Spear and her fiancé, William R. Wilson of Mankato; son, Allan Richter and his wife, Mary, of Mankato; four grandchildren, Ramona Weicherding and her husband, Michael, George Spear and his wife, Maureen, Rebecca Valley and her husband, Greg, and Adam Richter; three great-grandchildren, Courtney and Emily Spear, Ann Weicherding. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Stella in 2001.
