Adele Schoenfeld Harlow, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, after a heroic battle with cancer. She lived her final days in Mankato receiving hospice care, surrounded by dozens of family and friends.

Adele was born January 10, 1971, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She grew up in New Orleans attending K-12 school at The Academy of the Sacred Heart. After high school, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Lousiana, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from New Orleans Loyola University, and a Doctorate in Counseling and Counselor Education from The University of New Orleans.

Prior to moving to Mankato, Adele taught counselor education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. In addition, she worked as a school counselor at the New Orleans St. George’s School and the Stockton, California School District. While living in New Orleans, Adele was active in a number of social and Mardi Gras organizations, including being queen of a Mardi Gras Krewe.

Adele married Dr. Michael Harlow on June 9, 2007, in the school chapel of The Academy of the Sacred Heart. They moved to Mankato in July 2009, where Adele turned their house into a beautiful home.

Adele made friends quickly with her West Mankato neighbors. She was known for her infectious smile, attentive ear, and love of life. An accomplished chef, Adele brought Louisiana cooking to the neighborhood. Her gracious hospitality brought together the entire neighborhood with epic parties. Adele was a lifelong learner, active in her local foreign language group and the Thursday Reading Club.

Adele is survived by her husband, Michael; mother, Eugenie; brothers, Stephen (Melissa), Bennett, and Morlas (Kirsten); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carole and Mark Harlow; sisters-in-law, Michelle and Margaret Harlow; several nieces and nephews.

Adele was preceded in death by her father, Robert Schoenfeld of New Orleans.

A Celebration of Life will be 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Mankato Golf Club. 

A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, New Orleans, Lousiana.

The Harlow Family requests that all donations be given to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Mankato.
