Alan "AJ" Richard Junker

Alan “AJ” Richard Junker, 19, of Mankato, passed away on February 5, 2020, surrounded by family, after fighting another tough battle of a rare cancer.

Although only 19, almost 20 at the time of his death, he affected many people in his lifetime, especially his family and close friends. We learned so much from him and will never forget the love he showed us every day. His courage, old soul, compassion, politeness, empathy, smile and kindness always shined through, no matter the circumstances. He was an inspiration to us all.

He was deeply committed to nature and the environment around us. This passion brought him to a community college, where he started his pursuit in Conservation studies.  He loved gaining more knowledge and was excited to finally chase his dream career.

When AJ was not working hard or in class, you would find him on a lake, river or out in nature, enjoying every moment. He absolutely loved to fish and hunt. Fishing was his passion and he loved to go with family or friends. He always had great fishing stories to tell. He never took life for granted and enjoyed every conversation, teaching moment, advice given and kindness that came his way. He would do anything for anyone. His heart was always guiding him. He was truly the best friend you could ever ask for. He would always be there for his friends and family, no matter what. AJ was not one to complain and he just wanted to live a simple life. As AJ would always say, “ It is the little things in life, that make it great. Enjoy every moment!”

Growing up, AJ was full of life and loved to learn new things. He was always giving hugs and saying I love you. He was interested in many things, but American Armed Forces, history and animals were at the top of his list. He had many, great conservations over the years about history, with family and friends. He loved to talk about his interests and many other things with anyone. AJ loved to be outside, enjoying the nice weather whenever he could. You could always find him playing with his dogs, helping family or chatting away with neighbors. He had a kind heart since the day he was born and this showed every single day. AJ, also loved to play soccer and lacrosse, which brought some great friends into his life. When he was not on the field, you could find him playing xbox and hanging out with his close friends and family. Game night, was one of his favorite things to have. This brought him smiles, laughs and memories he will never forget.

Alan Junker, you will never be forgotten and you will live on in many people, who cared for you deeply.  You were an amazing human being and we thank you for making our lives wonderful.  We will continue to pass on love and kindness just like you taught us to.

Thank you to everyone who showed support and love along the way. It was appreciated.

A Celebration Of Life ceremony is pending at this time. This will be determined at a later date. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary assisted the family.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to AJ’s two favorite charities.  St. Jude’s Children Research. website: https://www.stjude.org/
