Allen died on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Mankato. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato. Private family burial will take place in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Allen was born on October 15, 1929 in Garden City Township, MN to Alfred and Anna (Nelson) Torgerson. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. Allen graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1947. He served in the Korean War as a First Sergeant of an Infantry Company in Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division, 1951-1953. He married Jane Ann Ashford on June 20, 1954.

Allen farmed and was employed by ELCO until May of 1959, and then employed by the Blue Earth County Highway Department, where he became the Maintenance Superintendent in 1971 and retired in 1991.

Allen was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, life member of the American Legion Post 11, VFW Post 950, Korean War Veterans Association and former member of the Sons of Norway. Allen enjoyed his family and job, as well as crafting, reading, traveling and cooking.

Survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane of Mankato; daughters, Luann Helepololei of Scottsdale, AZ, Susan McLemore of Hinesville, GA, Jean Kordaris of Fort Myers, FL, Christine Williams of Oakdale, MN and Marti (Wes) Flesner of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren, Justin Helepololei, Sara Helepololei, Matthew Drake, Kerstin McLemore, Aaron Phillip, Nathaniel (Brittany) Gregg, Zachary Gregg, Emma (Andrew) Cason and Hannah Fisher; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Trey, Olivia, Evelyn, Avery, Alexander, Jojo, Otto, Baby C, as well as nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Claude; sister-in-law, Mary and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato or donation of your choice.

May the Lord watch between you and me while we are absent, one from the other.
