Alvena A. (Lamer) Roth was born in Maple Lake on November 2, 1920 to Louis and Augusta Lamer. She graduated from Maple Lake High School and The Minnesota School of Business. Vean was united in marriage to William Roth in 1939. She was active in the business community for many years working in the executive offices of Cargill and the B.F. Goodrich Company before becoming part owner of a small industrial rubber company in Hopkins, MN and Tucson, AZ. She retired from active participation in the company in 1977 but did consulting work for several years. She and Bill enjoyed their lake home near Maple Lake, MN and traveling in their motor home. They visited all the states and Canada and made several trips to Europe. They enjoyed 30 years of retirement before his death.
Vean was an active member of her church and a dedicated volunteer, especially at Good Counsel with the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to cook and bake. Her cookie jar was always full.
She is survived by her two sons, William (Jonne) Roth and Peter (Linda) Roth; six grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Webb, Lance (Hannah) Roth, Kami (Jacob) Meadows, Tara (Jason) Stillwell, Peter Jr. (Kate) Roth, and Megan (Now) Winter; twelve great grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, and Daniel Webb, Owen, Logan, Annika, and Nadia Meadows, Hunter Stillwell, Amanda Roth, Geneva, Sawyer, and Ivy Winter; and several nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, of 66 years; her parents; and six siblings.
A special thank you to the staff at Pathstone Living for their selfless dedication to Vean’s welfare and to Mayo Hospice for their assistance and comfort during her end of life.
