Amelie Rose Christine Butler, age 76, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Funeral Service 12:00 p.m., (Noon), Friday, January 31, 2025, with visitation two hours before the service at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.
Amelie “Emmy” was born June 6, 1948. She was the tenth child out of eleven children born to Clifford and Sophie Olson.
She graduated from St. Francis High School in June 1966. From there she went on to college following 7 of her siblings to Prairie Bible Institute, Alberta, Canada. She graduated with a Teachers Diploma in April 1972.
Emmy came back to Minnesota and met the love of her life, David L. Butler. They were united in marriage on August 25, 1973, in Brooklyn Park, MN. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Rebecca Sue.
Emmy came from a very musical family that loved the Lord. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, organ, clarinet, and ukulele. She liked to keep herself busy with either sewing, needlepoint, coloring, painting, ceramics, or reading a wonderful romance book.
As Emmy’s health began to decline her daughter investigated various health care facilities. When Emmy moved into Birchwood Cottages she felt loved and finally found home.
Amelie is survived by her son-in-law, Jeff Gilbertson; four grandsons, Sebastian (Angie) Gilbertson, Payton, Adler, and Skyler Gilbertson and one great-grandson, Lennon; her 7 remaining siblings, Jacqueline Hanson, Clifford (Barb) Olson, Raymond (Cory) Olson, Sharon (Raymond) Johnson, Louisa (Don) Nelson, Rev David (Karen) Olson, and Paul (Pam) Olson, 34 nieces and nephews, and a very large extended Christian family.
Amelie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David L. Butler; daughter, Rebecca Sue (Butler) Gilbertson; three siblings, Jean, Mary (Willard) Lawrence, and Audrey (Doug) Kirk.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation for all the love, compassion, and devotion that Birchwood Cottages has shown Emmy over the years.
