Arnold "Arnie" Becker

Arnold “Arnie” Becker passed away peacefully on May 18, 2019, in Mankato, at the age of 95. He was born April 9, 1924 to John and Susie (Schartz) Becker. He served in the Korean War as a vehicle driver for one of the wars' military officers. Upon return home to Mankato, he and his brothers Clarence and Ray, worked as house plasterers. After a brief medical illness, he went to work for Mankato State College as a janitor/maintenance worker. It was his responsibility to keep all of the dormitories running smoothly. While working at Mankato State College, he met and married Josephine Skalicky.  They had many happy years together traveling around the US visiting with friends, as well as visiting their families in Minnesota.

Arnie was preceded in death by his beloved Jo; his parents; 2 sisters, Regina Shetler and Cecelia Kent; and 2 brothers, Clarence Becker and Raymond Becker. He is survived by one sister, Rosemary; 2 children, Margaret (Stephen) Hemly and Mark (Sue) Pihl; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 29, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with a visitation for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.

Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the VFW or charity of your choice.
