Barbara Bjorklund age 91, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her North Mankato home.
There will be a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at Mankato Mortuary on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A family graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The ALS Association or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
Barbara was born April 15, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois to Wilfred and Leona (Schmitt) Parr. She attended and graduated from Trinity High School in River Forest, Illinois. On June 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to Gustav Bjorklund in Nashville, North Carolina. They resided in Illinois, and Fridley, Minnesota prior to their move to Mankato. Barbara was very actively involved and served on the board of MRCI.
Survivors include her three children, John Bjorklund of Minneapolis, Ken Bjorklund of Mankato, Mary Johnson and her husband Todd of Madison Lake; three grandsons, Eric and wife Jess Johnson, Matthew and wife Kelly Johnson, Lucas Kroening; four great-grandchildren, Brayden Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Charlotte Johnson; nieces, nephews and their families. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2000, two daughters, Laurie Greising and Katherine Kroening, and a sisters Constance Gaskill and Georgiana Turner.
