Barbara Elizabeth Brielmaier

Barbara Brielmaier, age 79, of Mankato, died on January 17, 2024 at her home. 

Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior at the church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Barbara “Barb” was born on December 1, 1944 in Mankato, MN to Aloys and Bertha (Tacheny) Zimmeth.  She attended SS Peter and Paul’s grade school and Good Counsel Academy in Mankato graduating in 1963.  She finished her working career at West High School as the administrative assistant to the activities director for 13 years and retired in 2007. 

Barb married her sweetheart and best friend, Jim Brielmaier on September 28, 1974 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  They had 2 loving children, Michael and Teresa.  Barb continued being active with their activities and the church.  She served as PCCW Treasure, Festival Chairperson, and Church Board Member at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She was a member of VFW #950 DAV Chapter 10 Auxiliary and American Legion #11. 

Barb enjoyed painting in acrylics and watercolor, crocheting, playing cards, reading, and taking trips.  She really enjoyed time spent with family and friends, her granddaughters were her complete joy. 

Barb is survived by her loving husband, Jim; son, Michael (Chelsey); three granddaughters, Abby, Emily, and Ellie all of Mankato; sister-in-law, Helen (Tim) Faulkner; nieces, nephews, family and special friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha in 1980; father, Aloys in 1985; daughter, Teresa Marie in 2001; and brother, Jerome Zimmeth in 2023. 

Barb fought cancer since 1991.  She had kind words for all, and never lost her faith in the Lord as she traveled her journey.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to Mayo Cancer Center, Hospice and Heart Center in Mankato and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
