Our beautiful mother, Barbara Jean Hull, 85 of North Mankato passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born February 9, 1938, to Lyle and Frances (Wolfe) Parker of Sisseton, South Dakota. She graduated from Sisseton High School in 1956 and went on to Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, SD. She then owned and operated Parker Beauty Shop which was always a source of pride and admiration.
On August 6, 1960, she married Kenneth Ralph Hull. Together they had four children: Jody, Kelli, Staci, and Kent. She selflessly set her career aside to raise her children and later worked as a media assistant in the Mankato School District.
First and foremost, Barb was a dedicated mother who treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She was a strong, kind and fiercely resilient woman. She loved Jesus and taught her family to love Jesus too. Barb enjoyed life and was game for anything. She especially liked lake days, outdoor sports, gardening, yard games, and bike rides. She had many other interests and talents including crafting, sewing, watching movies, shopping, collecting pretty rocks, and playing games. We would be remiss if we did not mention her talent for making home cooked meals, baking special treats, and canning her famous dill pickles. Barb had a spunky personality and we will miss throwing our heads back with her and giggling until we cry.
Barb is survived by daughter, Jody (Timothy) Stagg of Hudson, WI and their children Melissa (Brandon) Free, Nicole, and Lauren; daughter, Kelli (Donald) Donais and their children Mackenzie and Mitchell of Apple Valley, MN; daughter, Staci (Jaime Taylor) Murphy and her children Sarah and Patrick of Mankato, MN; sisters, Connie Schooley and Cathy (Blake) Mettler; brother David (Sharon) Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Hull, her son, Kent Hull, her parents Frances Parker (Wolfe) and Lyle Parker, sister Beverly Verbarg, brother Donnie Parker, and two brothers-in-law.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15th, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following Mass, we will gather for lunch. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato, MN.
