Betty J. Thompson

Betty J. Thompson, age 98, of Mankato, died on Monday, February 15, 2021 at her home.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.  Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born on December 4, 1922 to Henry and Mabel (Hilton) Knutson in rural Emmetsburg, IA. On October 19, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to John Thompson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg.  She worked for Stevens Shoes in Mankato for many years.  Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles and bird watching.  She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and Sons of Norway. 

Betty is survived by her children, Mark, Karen (Don) Farm, Bruce (Cheryl) and Brian; grandchildren, Ryan (Brigette) Farm, Kirstin (Tim) Merseth, Andrew (Lindsey) Farm, Tina (Jon) McClain, Laura (Ryan) Gaffer, Ashley (Nate) Bullerman, and Hannah (Aaron) Meyer; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alyce (Wayne) Kivell; special caregiver, Suzie Albright.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John and sister, Billie Torkelson.
