William “Bill” Berkler Webb, 83, of Lake Crystal, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, February 20, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis (later date). Live-streaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.
Bill was born April 28, 1938, to Fred and Wanda (Berkler) Webb in Mankato. He grew up on the family farm in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1956. Following high school, Bill served in the US Navy for two years on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington, CVA-16. On June 22, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Phillips. Together they raised four children.
In his early years, Bill worked on the family farm with his dad in Mapleton. On July 1, 1964, he began his career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Lake Crystal, where he built a successful business taking care of his clients for over 57 years, retiring on December 31, 2021. He was honored and grateful to all who trusted him with their insurance needs.
Bill was an active community member. He was a member of the Lake Crystal Legion, Mankato and Mapleton VFWs. He volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Booster Club, Jaycees, Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, Rodeo Days, and other organizations. He was also an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, serving on the parish council and church men’s club. In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time on the lake, fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol; children, Brad (Barb) Webb of Eagan, Brian (Arlene) Webb of Naples, Florida, Bob (Jess) Webb of New Ulm, and Becki (Dave) Becker of Chaska; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Sean) Netzke, Abbie Webb, Jakob Lang, Kaylyn (Matthew) Noonan, Alex Webb, Noah, Elise, Jake, and Isabelle Webb, Michael (Christy) Becker, Tony Becker, and Joey (Caiti) Becker; two great-grandchildren, David and Brooklyn Becker; and niece, Bonnie (Arlyn) Grussing.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma.
