Brent David Beutler

Brent David Beutler was born on March 31st, 1963 in Moorhead, MN and died on March 27th, 2024 in Mankato, MN. 

Brent is survived by his parents, David and Elaine Beutler of Le Sueur; his siblings, Gail Wentzlaff (Dan Nelson), Dawn Thilmony, Adam Beutler (Jill Beutler); his nieces and nephews, Nichole “Coly” Intemann (Josh Intemann), Andrew Wentzlaff, Jacob Beutler, and Graesyn Thilmony. He is also survived by his dear friend, Tammy Roemhildt and his many other friends and chosen family at the facilities and homes he has lived and worked at over the years.

Brent was born with Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic mutation that can affect a person’s intellectual and cognitive abilities. He grew up in group assisted living facilities in Southern MN, including a state hospital, a Lutheran children’s home, and REM homes. He was an accomplished Special Olympian, winning gold medals in running and floor hockey. When he was young, he surprised everyone one day by picking up the unicycle out of the blue.

He spent most of his adult life in Mankato, working at MRCI. He last lived at Vista Prairie at Monarch Meadows and he loved the staff and fellow residents there, which he referred to as his “Monarch Family”.

He was a “big talker Betty Crocker” who would be quick to name you something like “Turkey” or “Trouble” if he liked you. He might even offer you a knuckle sandwich or to throw you in a snowbank. He loved Christmas, chocolate, laughter, parties, red beer, balloons, bonus money, scratch offs and pop.

Brent made friends wherever he went, even up until the end of his life. He had big, beautiful blue eyes. His goofy humor, his smile, his compassion, and his sincerity made him charming and easy to befriend.

We will celebrate Brent’s life at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato) on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.  Visitation will be Friday, April 5 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Northview and will continue one hour prior to the service. Please wear red as that was Brent’s favorite color.
