Bruce O. Barklow, age 84 of Mankato, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, with his three daughters by his side.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Bruce was born July 20, 1936 in Mountain Lake, MN to John and Dorothy (Miller) Barklow.
He was a graduate of St. Peter High School in 1954 and received his AA in accounting from Mankato Commercial College. Bruce was united in marriage to Marilyn Knaak on August 2, 1959 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Bruce served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1958 to 1964. He spent his career in auto parts sales with the local Ford dealership.
Bruce was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was active in choir, committees and ushering. Bruce was a generous donor for the Red Cross giving 20 gallons of blood over his lifetime. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their lake home.
Bruce is survived by his three daughters, Laurie (Alan) Rossow, Susan (Michael) Ruch, Melissa “Mitzi” (David) Iverson; five grandchildren, Jenna (Scott) Miller, Marci Rossow (Travis Hammett), Alyssa (Nick) Sorenson, Austin Iverson (Jordan Anderson), Emma Iverson; three great-grandsons, Henry Sorenson, Charles and Everett Miller; three sisters, Barb (Stan) Hanson, Marleen (Paul) Maas, Pat (Darell) Gerber; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanne (Larry) Delabar; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Marilyn (December 19, 2020), parents, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Herb Shottenkirk.
