Bruce Bateman

Bruce Bateman, age 73, of Fargo, formerly of North Mankato, passed away on November 21, 2023 in Moorhead, MN after a valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will be livestreamed and available below.

Bruce, the son of Fae and Ruby (Gustafson) Bateman, was born on December 20, 1949 in Mankato, MN. Bruce graduated from Wilson Campus School where he excelled at multiple sports. After graduating from Mankato State College, Bruce dedicated his professional career to Kato Engineering for nearly five decades until his retirement in 2013. His kindness was evident in every role he played, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his strong work ethic, and his love of sports and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jane (Todd) Bateman, of Fargo, ND, whom he married on September 29, 1979 in Chatfield, MN. He is also survived by son, Brian (Maya) Bateman of Singapore and their children, Keira, Kamora (Charlotte), and Kallen (Charlie); daughter, Jacquelyn Bateman of Minneapolis, MN; son, Bradley (Maggie) Bateman of Hunter, ND and their children, Oliver, Tenley, and Jonah; sister, Jean (Merle) Otto of Madison Lake, MN; brother, Larry (Becci) Bateman of North Mankato, MN; brother-in-law, LuVerne Beske; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Barb (Leon) Martin, Wayne Bateman, and Shirley Beske.
