Carl E. Moss, age 95, was called home to be with his Heavenly Father, Monday, December 11, at his home in Mankato, MN. A celebration of life and memorial service will be held, at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Mankato Mortuary. A private family burial service will be held earlier in the day.
Carl, son of Roy and Gertrude (King) Moss, was born February 13, 1928, in Moscow, Kansas He was the ninth of eleven children and spent most of his childhood years in Little River, Kansas.
He joined the US Air Force when he was twenty years old and worked in airplane maintenance. He married Betty Breeze in Shreveport, LA, April 17, 1950. Together they raised their two children, Cindy and Tim. While in the military the family traveled all over Europe and the United States. After twenty-two years in the military Carl retired while stationed in Rapid City, SD and moved to Olympia, WA. He worked for a year and a half for Continental Can Company then worked in the Olympia Post Office for sixteen years before retiring for good.
After 48 years of marriage, Betty passed away. Upon returning from a mission trip to Haiti, Carl reconnected with JaNeane Parkins, who also grew up in Little River, KS, and was a very good friend of his younger sister. Carl and JaNeane were married September 21, 2000 and resided in Olympia, WA until September 2021 when they moved to Mankato to be close to JaNeane’s family.
Carl’s love of airplanes fueled his hobby of flying and building radio-controlled airplanes later in life. He could often be found in his garage building or repairing his airplanes. He would even design his planes from scratch. He was very mechanical and could fix anything. He even built the log house he and Betty had in Olympia.
Carl loved a good jig-saw puzzle, reading, tending to his garden and being in nature. He was a devoted Christian with a strong faith and lived a life true to God. He was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished friend. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, his son, Tim, six brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife JaNeane, daughter Cindy (Jim Luna) Fry, and granddaughter Holly (Tim) Clothier, step-daughter Teresa (Alan) Anderson, step-sons George (Tami) Wullschleger, Kurt (Kris) Wuller, sister Jeanne Deeds, one great grandchild, eight step-grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.
