Carol Lewis

Carol Jean Lewis, 78, of Mankato, died March 9, 2022 at Water’s Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato with a memorial service starting at 2:00 p.m. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com. Burial will be at a later date in Red Oak Grove Cemetery in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.

Carol was born May 14, 1943 to Maynard and Opal (Wilson) Goodwin in Austin, Minnesota. She graduated from Austin High School and continued her education at Austin Jr. College receiving her associate degree in arts. She married James Hawkins and together they raised three children. On April 24, 1992, Carol married James Lewis in Mankato. Carol worked as a medical transcriptionist for over 30 years. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Branson, Missouri watching the Lennon Sisters, Andy Williams, going to the Welk Theater and eating at the Hard Luck Diner.

Carol is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jim; children, Paul Hawkins of St. Paul, Tim (Saa) Hawkins of Marlton, New Jersey, Julie (Natalie) Hawkins of Kodak, Tennessee, Carrie Schmidt of Owatonna, and Renee (Russ) Barth of Austin, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Goodwin; and a niece and 2 nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Goodwin.
