Carolyn (Johnson) Allen, age 81, of Mankato, died on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Mankato. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Mankato Mortuary and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed and available at https://youtu.be/UHBcFVwRBeI.
Carolyn was born in Mountain Lake on August 5, 1939 to Gerald and Dolores (Talbott) Johnson. She graduated from Jeffers High School where she was involved in many activities. She met Louis W. Allen in 4-H and they were united in marriage on June 26, 1957 in Jeffers. Carolyn was proud to be a stay at home mom and was known as the neighborhood Kool-Aid mom. She was a professional seamstress, an artist and a lifelong crafter who loved to learn new skills. Carolyn was a member of the Windom Mrs. Jaycees, Sleepy Eye Mrs. Jaycees, Sleepy Eye Newcomers, and Hilltop United Methodist Church. She was also very active in Women of the Moose – earning Academy of Friendship, Star Recorder, and College of Regents degrees while a member in Mankato. She was appointed MN Deputy Grand Regent, Academy of Friendship Board and Dean, Grand Council, and Grand Regent for International Women of the Moose. Carolyn also loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Allen of Mankato; children, Robin Collins of Mankato, Rondi (Peter) Fischer of Ponte Vedra, FL and Troy Allen of Champlin; grandchildren, Christopher Hauck, Anthony Hauck, Jesse Allen, Ashley Fischer, and Laurel Fischer; sister, Rita (Rod) Dehmlow of Savage; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Hilltop United Methodist Church, Moose Charities, or BENCHS.
