Carolyn was born January 13, 1962 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Edwin and Marilyn (Zollner) Mielke. Carolyn attended MN State Academy for the Deaf in Faribault, MN graduating in 1980. She went onto attend and graduate from St Paul College. She worked for a few years in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. She went on to attend Gallaudet University in Washington D.C, a dream of hers. After graduation, she worked in the DC area for many years. She returned to live in North Mankato to be near her family. She loved to spend time with her friends and keep up with them through Facebook. She loved to read lots of books before retinitis pigmentosa made that too difficult. She would meet friends for lunch with the Deaf Restaurant Club. She also loved to babysit her friend’s kids as well as her niece, Taylor, when she was little. Carolyn loved kids, and kids loved Carolyn because of her bubbly personality and gentle heart and soul.
She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Mielke of Mankato; sister, Camille Mielke of Richfield; brother, Edwin (Sherrilee) Mielke of Mankato; and niece, Taylor Mielke.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Mielke.
