Cathryn Lynnea Johnson passed away peacefully at her home on August 6, 2019. Cathryn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March of 2019 and was determined to fight it to the end.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato) and will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the House of Hope Inc. of Mankato.
Cathryn was born in Albert Lea, MN on May 2, 1945 to Lennis and Freda (Gronfor) Quam of Frost, MN. Cathryn attended Frost School and graduated in 1963. After graduating, she moved to Mankato and worked for the office of Wycoff and Nelson. While in Mankato, she met her future husband, John and they were married July 27, 1968. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. Cathy was a devoted mother to sons, Mark and Adam, and enjoyed raising them on the family farm. She went to work at the Mankato Clinic in 1985, working in various departments and locations until her retirement in 2007. Family was first and foremost her top priority. She loved to spend time with her five grandchildren and always said they were the best of the best. She was a fantastic hostess of dinners and holidays and made everyone feel welcome and special. Cathy was active in her church and served as president of the Church Women of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato.
Cathryn is survived by her husband, John of North Mankato; sons, Mark (Joan) Johnson of Mankato and Adam (Jenna) Johnson of Victoria; grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary and LauraLee Johnson and Austin and Brody Johnson; sisters, Carolyn (Harold) Furland of Frost, Marilyn (Paul) Mork of White Bear Lake, Lynda (Duane) Jergenson of Minneapolis, and Tricia (Skip) Schimek of Blue Earth; and brother-in-law, Duane Johnson of St. Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lennis and Freda Quam and sister, Gwendolyn Quam.
