Cecil O. Simmons

Cecil O. Simmons, age 79, of North Mankato, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at his home.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato at a later date.  Cecil’s family requests that everyone dress casual for the funeral service.

Cecil was born on September 10, 1939 in Mankato to Floyd and Mabel (Olsen) Simmons.  He grew up and attended school in Mankato.  On November 21, 1964, Cecil was united in marriage to Carolyn Mischke.  He worked for Kato Engineering for 35 years.  Cecil enjoyed hunting, fishing, drawing, playing Yahtzee, and time spent outside, especially playing croquet in the summer.  Cecil also enjoyed drag racing in his younger years and attending car shows. 

Cecil is survived by his daughter, Brenda Simmons (Roy Bohning) of Mankato; son, Bradley Simmons of North Mankato; grandchildren, Chase Simmons, Leah Simmons, and Ty King, all of Mankato; special friend, LaVonne Kueker of Mankato; sister, Nancy (Gary) Brandt of Crystal, MN; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; and siblings, Bob, Rod, Gene, Wayne, and Jim.
