Charlene LuAnn Zimmerman

Charlene L. Zimmerman, age 84, died April 16, 2025 at Benedictine Regina Assisted Living, Hastings.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at church. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charlene was born on June 2, 1940 in Rake, IA to Selmer and Genevieve (Halvorson) Matheson. She graduated from Frost High School in 1958. She worked as an LPN at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the psych unit. On June 29, 1963, Charlene was united in marriage to Gary Zimmerman. She was an avid Minnesota sports fan. She enjoyed hosting morning coffee group at her house and made the best chocolate chip cookies. She also enjoyed lefse making. She loved her family and was such an excellent caregiver. She always gave more than she took.

Charlene is survived by three children, Ann (Patrick) McCall, Amy (Rodney) LaFreniere, and Jeff (Andrea) Zimmerman; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five siblings, Marvis Dolan, Vivian Peterson, Geraldine Holmseth, Elaine (Bob) Weiner, and Kathleen (John) Bang; sisters-in-law, Sonja Matheson and Pat Zimmerman; brother-in-law, Tom (Judy) Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Gary; grandson, Maddox; brothers, Stanley and Carlyle Matheson; and many loved brothers and sisters-in-law.
