Charles Ray “Chuck” Born, age 63, of Eagle Lake, died on Monday, July 22, 2019 after a brave, ugly battle with cancer.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Chuck was born November 11, 1955 in Waseca to Marlon and Pauline (Hamann) Born. He graduated from high school at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Chuck was a Seabee in the United States Navy from 1972-1976. Chuck married the love of his life, Judy Olinger on April 22, 1983 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Chuck was a master electrician who worked in the field and was an estimator and project manager. He worked various places throughout his career, Key City, Brandt, Fischer-Hoehn, and Master Electric. Chuck was a proud member of IBEW Local #343. He was also a member of the Eagle Lake American Legion Post #617 and a member of the honor guard. Chuck was a blood donor for many years. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, woodworking, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Chuck was a longtime resident of Eagle Lake where he was an active member of the Jaycees and received the MN Statesman Award. He was very close with families in his Eagle Lake neighborhood. Chuck was always willing to lend a hand to friends, family, and those in his community. Chuck (Papa) was so loved by his grandchildren and all that knew him.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Mike (Katie) Born and grandchildren Quinn, Vincent, and Camille all of Minnetonka; brothers, Gordon (Sharon), Jody (Kim), and Steven; sister, Debbie (Mark) Short; step-mother, Albina Born; father and mother-in-law, Jerry (Nan) Olinger; sisters-in-law, Mary Kay (Randy) Roberts, Patty (Stan) Strege, Ann (Rudy) Coleman, and Carol (Kevin) Brady; 18 nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles from the Hamann and Born families; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Brian; grandparents, Henry (LuVerne) Born and Ruben (Rose) Hamann.
