Charles Timothy Mead, age 70, of Mankato died peacefully at his home, Saturday, March 23, 2019, surrounded by family and friends.
A Celebration of Tim’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cross Catholic Outreach, Birthright of Mankato, or St. Mary’s Mission of Red Lake, MN.
Tim was born February 19, 1949 to Clarence Albert and Ann Rita (Weir) Mead in St. Peter. He attended John Ireland Grade School, graduating from St. Peter High School, and then Mankato Vocational School for Commercial Art. Tim met his future wife, Carol M. Hoehn, while working at Brown Printing and they were married on May 24, 1975 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake. He was employed by Brown Printing for 27 years, also by River Hills Mall, Thayer Publishing, South Central College, Bethany Lutheran College, and ADC. Tim enjoyed art – painting, drawing, and many other mediums, he was an avid chess player and collector of chess sets. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandson, Hunter, and his siblings, watching baseball, camping and campfires, sailing with his son, and his donuts and coffee.
Tim is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Christy (Matthew) Rush of North Mankato; son, Kevin Mead of Mankato; grandson, Hunter Rush; sisters, Jane Mead of St. Peter, Rose Blumenshein of Bemidji; brothers, Harold (Pat) Mead of Nicollet, Greg (Connie) Mead of Eden Prairie, Larry (Kathy) Mead of Waterville; nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fr. Leland Mead; brother-in-law, Lynn Blumenshein. A special Thank You to Tim’s loving family, friends, neighbors, Mayo Hospice, Mayo Eastridge Clinic, and Blue Earth County Human Services for all the care they provided to Tim.
