Charlotte L. Rogers, age 88, of rural Lake Crystal, died peacefully with family by her side at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal, where she had been a resident because of declining health.
A Service Celebrating Charlotte’s Life will be 11:00 a.m., April 27, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., at the church. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Indoor Playground Fund at the Lake Crystal Rec Center or the American Diabetes Association.
Charlotte the oldest of eight children was born to Merlin W. and Mildred E. (Nelson) Johnson in Redwood Falls, MN. She saved her babysitting money and in 7th grade bought her first sewing machine. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1953 and Mankato Teachers College in 1957. During her college summers she worked at Glacier National Park, Lake Louise.
Charlotte taught Home Ecomonics at Le Sueur High School from 1957-64. She also worked as a home economist in the experimental kitchen at Green Giant Co. in Le Sueur during the summers.
She was united in marriage to Duane I. Rogers on July 21, 1963, at the Le Sueur United Methodist Church. Charlotte was the “City Girl” who became the “Farm Wife” after her marriage.
Charlotte loved to talk and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years, she substitute taught for many years in Lake Crystal Public Schools, and was part of 4-H, and AFS.
Charlotte enjoyed sewing, knitting, and reading. She sewed cabbage patch dolls, cake carriers, casserole carriers, curtains, clothing, costumes, grocery bags, everything and anything under the sun!
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Duane; two daughters, Brenda Rogers and Paula Rogers; sister, Mary (Rex) Rekstien; two sisters-in-law, Audrey (Gus) Degler and Helen Owens; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; and extended family.
