Clarice Evans

Clarice Evans, age 91, was blessed to be called home by her Savior on Friday, November 25, 2022.  She passed away peacefully at Ecumen Pathstone Living after months of daily struggles with debilitating health. May there be peace and happiness in her eternal life; free of all earthly constraints.  Your wings already exist. All you have to do is FLY…

Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 222 Pfau St., Mankato.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30-11:00 a.m at the church. Interment will be at Minneopa Cemetery. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice or the donor’s choice.  The service will be livestreamed from Clarice’s obituary at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Clarice was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Tracy, MN to William and Margrethe (Rialson) Helgeson. She spent her young life in Tracy, graduating from high school in 1948. She started her adventures of adult life by moving to Mankato and attending Mankato Commercial College. Upon completion she was employed by the 7-Up Bottling Co., where she met her husband, Harlan. They married Nov 5, 1950, in Tracy, MN and moved to Amarillo, TX to start their life together. Her days were filled with being a wife, homemaker and starting her family. The young family of four returned to MN in 1958 where she continued her role as homemaker, loving wife and mother to four children. While homemaking and motherhood were always her first priority, she returned to school, attending Mankato Vo-Tech. After receiving her LPN license in 1978, she was employed for many years at the Mankato Clinic.

Clarice never sought any accolades for her accomplishments, instead being the supportive rock for the family. She lived her life in faith, kindness and giving. She was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering there and for the MRCI thrift store. She was also a member of the American Legion and DAV Auxiliaries.  In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidering, quilting and reading.

Clarice is survived by her four children, Keith (Deb) of Coon Rapids, Patricia of Rochester, Dean (Ann) of North Mankato and Kay (Todd) Hoffman of Mankato; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marlys Stutz of Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; her husband of 61 years; son-in-law, Lee Haglund; and brother-in-law, Stanley Stutz.

A special thank you to Ecumen Pathstone Living and Mayo Hospice personnel for their patience, dedication and timeless hours spent caring for your residents. There aren’t enough words of thanks to express the comfort this brings to families.
