Clinton John Kind passed away Thursday, October 24th at his residence at Pillars Senior Living in Mankato, MN at the age of 93. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a professor at Minnesota State University, Mankato where he was chairman of the Accounting Department for many years. He was a loving and devoted husband to Joni, the love of his life, and a most beloved father to his five sons. Clinton was born on July 24, 1931 to John and Hannah (Nelson) Kind in Red Wing, MN. He was raised in the Svea Country Store/residence in Hager City, WI. At age nine he moved to a dairy farm until 1951 when he joined the U.S. Navy. He married his beloved wife Joan Anderson on April 5, 1951. They had five sons. After his discharge from the Navy in 1954, he spent a short time farming. He attended Mankato State Teachers College and graduated in 1958. He taught four years at Ellsworth High School in Wisconsin. After earning his master”s degree from Mankato State University in 1963, he taught accounting there for 32 years where he served as the chairman of his department for 27. He had an accounting practice for several years and retired from the practice in 2009. He was a C.P.A. and a member of the Minnesota Accounting Educators. He and Joni attended Crossview Covenant Church. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, fishing, reading and playing cards. He loved family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by Joan, his wife of 67 years, his parents, John and Hannah Kind. He is survived by his five sons and daughters-in-law: Arn (Meg), John (Wendy), Dan (Cheryl), Chuck (Allene), Steve (Susan) and honorary son Steven Woehrle (Avis). Clint and Joan had nine grandchildren: Nicole (Matt Forbes), Christopher (Angelyn Faust), Mallory (Luke Howk), Emma, Heather, Andrew (Amber Sandau), AJ (Meredith Larson), Violet (Phill Just), and Dwella and ten great-grandchildren: Samwell Forbes, Emmitt & Kieran Clint Howk, Jacob Norland, Rose & Gabby Bauman, Oliver & Sullivan Kind, and Nation & Hugo Just . He is also survived by his sister Laura Anderson and his sister-in-law Arline Anderson.
Visitation (9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.) and memorial service (11:00 A.M.) will take place on Saturday, November 16th at Crossview Covenant Church in North Mankato.
In lieu of flowers, Clinton requested that memorials be made payable to Minnesota State University Mankato Foundation, with a designation to the Clinton Kind Family Accounting Scholarship Endowment #055141 or to Crossview Covenant Church, North Mankato.
The family thanks all those who have offered their condolences. They extend special thanks to the caring staff at St. Croix Hospice and Pillars Senior Living for the loving care given to Clinton in his final days.
