Collins David Rief Jr.

Collins D. Rief, Jr., age 73, of North Mankato, formerly of Chaska, MN, died on March 30,

2024 at home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (901 E 90^th Street, Bloomington, MN 55420) at 10:30 a.m.   Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery directly after the service.

Collins was born July 7, 1950 in Shakopee, MN to Collins Sr. and Ardis (Peterson) Rief, he was the second of ten children. Collins attended Guardian Angels Catholic School and graduated from Chaska High School. Collins continued his education at Hennepin Technical College until he served in the United States Army.

Collins had four children and while raising them, coached youth sports. Collins spent his working career as a Mechanical Quality Engineer until he retired. He loved spending time with his grandsons, being outdoors, watching sports especially pro-wrestling, volunteering, fishing, adventures, and time with family. Collins will be dearly missed especially for his mentoring and playfulness.

Collins is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Matthew) Sullivan; grandsons, Gerald and Gary; son, Keith (Kimberly) Rief; son, Matthew Rief; siblings, Stephen (Connie) Rief, Christopher Rief, Patrick Rief, Brenda (Charles) Efta; brother-in-law, Allen Gruenhagen; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Collins was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Rief; parents; brothers, Michael and Timothy Rief; sisters, LuAnn Rief, Cheryl Gruenhagen and Grace Kloos; brother-in-law, Douglas Kloos; sister-in-law, Terry Huggins; niece, Amanda Rief; nephew, Ryan Rief; great-nephew, William Luecke; and beloved kitty, Pandora.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.

Arrangements are with Northview - North Mankato Mortuary and St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
