Craig David Bartelt

Craig David Bartelt, age 65, of Mankato, passed away on Sunday, August 15th, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. We will be forever grateful to family and friends for the prayers and support we received during this difficult time.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. The service will be livestreamed at www.mankatomortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given for medical research.

Craig was born on June 29, 1956, to Robert and Beverly Bartelt of Le Center where he joined siblings Bruce and Patty. He attended school and played basketball, football and baseball. After graduation, he earned his Master Plumbing license.

On October 2, 1976, Craig married his high school sweetheart, Diane (Jerrow). In 1979 they moved to Mankato and purchased ACE Plumbing. He proudly served his customers in the Mankato area until retiring in December 2020.

Craig and Diane were blessed with two children, Adam, in 1981 and Bridget, in 1984. Many years were dedicated to watching their activities. Bowling, golf and dancing. Craig even took to the stage to dance with Bridget. Their home was often the gathering place for Adam and Bridget’s friends.

Craig was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. They were “Umpa’s” world. He was the biggest instigator of playtime and trouble making. He will be remembered for big hugs, I Love You’s, clapping his hands and his classic departing words, “Good Times”!

For many years, Craig enjoyed motorcycle trips with best friends, Bob, Ted and Harry. He looked forward to the annual Labor Day weekends and time in Florida with Diane and the Dinwiddies’. Craig also spent a lot of time up at “Big Brother” Bruce’s cabin with his golden retriever companion, Bart.

Craig was a quiet man and respected by many. Humble, strong, honest and compassionate. He was someone you could count on.

Craig is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane, Adam, Bridget, son-in-law Jim, daughter-in-law Heather and grandchildren Hailey, Christian, Cameron, Cora, Brady, Aiden and Emmett. Brother Bruce and wife DeLora, sister Patty and husband Ted, brother-in-law Bob Jerrow and wife Deb. Cherished nieces and nephews, Andy, Lori, Erin, Abby, Lindsey and Nathan along with their families.

Preceded in death by Craig’s parents, Robert and Beverly Bartelt, In-laws, Earl and Irene Jerrow, extended family members and faithful companion “Bart”.

Craig was proud to be a part of Rochester Mayo medical research study to further educate the medical community and benefit others.
