Daniel "Dan" Allen Nugent

Daniel “Dan” Allen Nugent, age 78, of rural Madelia passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Private services will be held. Lake Crystal Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Dan was born on November 28, 1941 to Clarence and Laura (Drahn) Nugent in McGregor, Iowa. 

Dan served individuals in the mental health field for many years.  He was forever compassionate and a calming presence.  Dan loved baseball - playing in his younger years and attending games and going on baseball tours in his later years.  He enjoyed writing poetry and “words of wisdom”.

Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ellen Nugent; his children, Lisa (Bruce) Meier, Beth Hauser and special friend Bryan, and Mike Nugent; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas (Janet) Nugent, and sister-in-law, Christine Nugent.  Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald Nugent and James Nugent, as well as a sister in infancy. 

Memorials are requested to Echo Food Shelf or a charity of the donor’s choice.
