Daniel “Dan” Terrell (age 35) entered God’s glorious kingdom of heaven while surrounded by family and his dearest friends, after completing his 11 month fight against brain cancer on November 11th 2023.
Dan was born to Dennis and Colleen Terrell on June 29, 1988, attended Eagle Lake Elementary, graduated from Mankato East High School in 2007 and went on to enjoy college so much that he attained several majors and minors from Minnesota State University, Mankato where he graduated in 2012. Dan joined his father as a real estate agent at RE/MAX Dynamic Agents in Mankato in 2014. Dan married the love of his life, Alexa, on September 24, 2022.
Simply put; To know Dan, is to love Dan. Often described by his expansive friend group as the “glue” or the “sun”, Dan was always the person that brought people together. Dan valued his family and friends above all. He loved his wife Alexa deeply, he was fiercely protective over his mom, dad and sisters (Kelly, Jenna, and Meghan). His nieces, Adisyn and Brynleigh, were his pride and joy. Dan’s one year old German Shepherd, Loki, stole his heart the moment he saw him. Dan always had a quick-witted response or joke, loved being with his friends, was the extremely proud Godfather to Adisyn, Elle and Finn, and was always available to help “figure it out” - Dan’s most famous saying. Dan was an avid football fan, a lover of all things Marvel, Captain America and Ninja Turtles, an obstacle course race connoisseur, and a lifelong learner. Dan’s achievements are vast, but he never let that take away from his thirst for knowledge and learning. An influential leader, Dan began a Real Estate Team where he mentored several agents and quickly became a nationwide leader, culminating in receiving the LifeTime Achievement Award from RE/MAX. His team members describe him as: humble, funny, courageous, determined, dedicated, nurturing, welcoming, kind-hearted and “the best”.
Dan’s Catholic faith guided him throughout his life and particularly throughout his experience with cancer. While we will always struggle with why Dan had to leave us so soon, we know that God is holding Daniel in the palm of his hand, and welcomed him into everlasting life; to be joined by his grandfathers, grandmother, cousin, uncle, and friends who have gone before him. Dan is survived by his parents Dennis and Colleen, his wife, Alexa, his sisters, Kelly, Jenna (Curt) Mohr, Meghan (Drew Brudvig), brother-in-law, Eric Manske, his nieces, Adisyn and Brynleigh, Grandmother, Delores Kennedy, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
While plants and flowers are beautiful, we struggle to keep them living, so memorials can be made to the family so we can make donations in Daniel’s name to the organizations he held most dear. Most importantly, Dan would want you to do something extraordinarily nice for someone in the days ahead. Dan’s family is incredibly grateful for Dr. Singh and the nursing staff at the Andreas Cancer Center. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for caring for Dan with such love.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4 – 7 p.m. at The Venue at the Pond in Mankato. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023, at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Burial will be at the Eagle Lake Cemetery immediately following.
