Darlene Joy (Linn) Anderson, age 86, of North Mankato, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Birchwood Cottages in North Mankato.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. John Odegard, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service. Private family interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Darlene was born on December 4, 1932 to Ward and Mary (Warrington) Linn in Fairmont, MN. She was a graduate of Fairmont High School in 1951 and Mankato Beauty School in 1952. She married C. Merton Anderson, September 26, 1953 in Fairmont. They later divorced. Darlene and Merton established Year-A-Round Cab Corporation in 1967. Darlene was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church and involved in many activities there. She was the beautician at the Mankato Lutheran Home for 14 years. She was active in Prime Timers and Antique Club for many years. She loved cooking, canning, and the annual Christmas cookie baking day with "her girls". She attended many lutefisk suppers, plays, and traveled with her friends. She was a wonderful Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.
Darlene is survived by her son, Charlie (Kathy) Anderson of Spirit Lake, IA; her daughters, Cindi (Pete) Baker of Mankato, Carmen (Albert) Rist of North Mankato, and Christin Anderson of Dewey, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Cory Anderson (fiancé, Alison Welin), Cari (Pat) Krenik, Patrick (Claire) Baker, Chandra (Brock) Petersen, Troy Stransky, Chad Stransky, and Roxanne Rist; 2 step-grandchildren, Karl (Nicki) Buggert and Kayla (C.J.) Siewert; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 step great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Devon and Fae Linn of Ashland, OR; and sister, Colleen Harris of Green Valley, AZ.
Darlene was preceded in death by her infant son, Curtis L. Anderson; parents, Ward and Mary Linn; brother-in-law, Neil Harris. A special thank you to the staff and caregivers of Birchwood Cottages for the wonderful care and support they provided during this part of her journey.
