Darlene Grace Smith

Darlene Grace Smith, age 94, of Mapleton, died on September 17, 2023.

A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Mapleton. Private family burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mapleton. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Darlene was born on March 20, 1929, in Mankato to Emmett and Lillian (Balzer) O’Connor. She graduated from Good Counsel in 1947. Darlene was united in marriage to Robert Smith on December 27, 1951, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Mapleton. Darlene loved to read. She also was a history enthusiast, especially in regard to the Civil War.

Darlene is survived by her four children, Michael of Mankato, Debra (Raydean) Radke of Amboy, Patrick (Linda) of Mapleton, and Gregory (Erica) of Mapleton; five grandchildren, Jared (Stacy) Smith, Jennifer (Ryan) Hastings, Jason (Stephanie) Dickie, Mary (Matthew) Mahowald, and Stephanie (Nathan) Holt; and eight great-grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, and two sons, Stephen and David.
