Dave Oberle, age 81, of Mankato, died on February 5, 2024.
Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dave was born on August 16, 1942, in Mankato to Herbert and Ione (Sater) Oberle. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1960. Dave served in the United States Navy from 1960-1963. On July 11, 1964, Dave was united in marriage to Norrita “Cookie” Weingartz. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. Dave volunteered countless hours with youth activities, coaching baseball, bowling, and wheelchair basketball. He was an avid league bowler and golfer. He was inducted into the Mankato Bowlers Hall of Fame. Dave loved walking daily. He was a member of VFW Post #950.
Dave is survived by his wife, Cookie; daughter, Robin (Bernie) Kozitza; son, Jon (Karen) Oberle; grandchildren, Grant Kozitza, Griffan Kozitza (fiancé, Brittney Wacholz), Callyn Kozitza, Lauren Oberle, and Davis (Laura) Oberle, and great-grandson, Jack Oberle; brother, Jerry (Kay) Oberle; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Deetra Huettl.
