David Mead

David Mead, age 82, of Mankato, died on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Water’s Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

David F., the son of Frank and Luella (Ewert) Mead, was born on November 28, 1939 in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1957. David served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. On September 17, 1960 he married Loretta “Rita” Mason. David was a General Manager at Pepsi Cola of Mankato for 42 years. He was a member of the Mankato Sertoma Club and enjoyed biking and walking in the outdoors.

He is survived by sons, Mike (Kathy) Mead of Good Thunder and Jim (Jackie) Mead of Mankato; grandchildren, Tom (KayCee) Mead of Burnsville, Kristin (Matt) Klun of Bloomington, and David Mead of Good Thunder; great grandchildren, Nathan and Jessica Klun; siblings, Janet (Gary) Williams of Arizona and Ken (Cindy) Mead of Mankato; brothers in law, Loren “Buck” (Mary) Mason of Mankato and Rick Hammer of Mankato; sister in law, Judy (Gordy) Dayland of Peterson, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita; brother, Robert (Sharon) Mead; and sister, Susan Hammer.
