David Henry Mettler

David Henry Mettler, age 80, of St. Peter and formerly Mankato, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home as well. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.

David was born on May 3, 1942, in Mankato, Minnesota to Charles and Elizabeth Mettler.  He started working in construction at the age of 13. Most of his work career was for the School Sisters of Notre Dame at Good Counsel Academy, and Mankato Loyola High School. One of the great joys of his life was working on the hill, where he never missed a day of work for 22 years. He finished his working career at Honeymead. David was also a bartender at Spinners, NaKato, and Bobby Joes. David loved to dance, play Pfeffer, craftwork, listen to music, and spend time with his family.

David is survived by his children, Tammy (Doug) Austad, and Kevin (Patti) Mettler; grandchildren, Melissa Austad, Becca Ivers, Jayden Austad, Ashley (Scott) Wersal, Alyssa Mettler, and Megan Mettler; great-grandsons, Hank, Nash, and Easton; siblings, Mildred Dorn, Dorothy Ward, Raymond (Marj) Mettler, and Rosie Ulrich, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, as well as 11 brothers and sisters.
