David Pearson

David Stanley Pearson, 70, of Mankato and lifelong resident of North Mankato, passed away July 12, 2020, at his home.

Funeral Mass will be 11 am, Saturday, July 18, 2020, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Dave was born August 6, 1949, to Stanley and Beverly (Rivers) Pearson in Mankato. He graduated from O’Gorman High School in 1967 in Sioux Falls and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics from Mankato State University. On June 6, 1969, he married Jean Crider in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Together they raised two children, Nathan and Katie. Dave retired from NSP/Xcel Energy as Manager of Community and Government Relations in 2014 after 44 years of service.

Dave was a very active community member serving on numerous boards including the North Mankato City Council for 12 years, North Mankato Planning Commission, Investment Club, YMCA, United Way, All Seasons Arena, South Central College Foundation, Community Assistance for Refugees and the Mankato Area Youth Baseball Association for 30 years. Dave coached youth baseball for 18 years and umpired for many more. He volunteered for many organizations including Vine. Dave enjoyed golfing, fishing and baseball with family and friends. In retirement he loved watching his grandsons play in ball tournaments. He enjoyed spending time visiting his children and grandkids. Dave and Jean enjoyed going to Florida every winter, playing golf and traveling with friends.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jean; children Nathan (Heidi) Pearson and Katie (Anders) Westanmo; grandchildren, Nicholas, Bennett, Grant, and Rowan Pearson and AJ and Siri Westanmo; eight siblings, Patricia (Todd) Reed, Keith (Rita) Pearson, Bill (Lori) Pearson, Tim (Wendy) Pearson, John Pearson, Margie (John) Gurney, Mary (Jerry) Weaver and Karen (Tony) Brion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
