Deanna Marie Hohenstein, 83, of Osceola, Wisconsin and formerly of Mankato, died December 16, 2021 at the Osceola Medical Center in Osceola.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.
Deanna was born April 30, 1938 to Martin and Frieda (Tietje) Ritz in Madelia, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm in Truman, Minnesota. She graduated from Truman High School. Following high school Deanna moved to Mankato to attend Mankato Commercial College. This is where she met and married Roger Hohenstein on October 17, 1959 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Together they raised three children, Keith, Donna, and Douglas.
Deanna worked at JC Penny for over 30 years in Mankato, retiring in 2000. Following retirement, she and Roger moved to Polk County, Wisconsin. Following Roger’s death in 2010, Deanna moved to Virginia, Minnesota to be closer to family. In her free time, Deanna enjoyed gardening, stock car racing, and spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.
Deanna is survived by her children, Keith (Mary) Hohenstein of Maple Grove, Donna (Drake) Lockman of Lino Lakes, and Douglas (Cindy) of Iron, Minnesota; grandchildren, Bethany (Adam) Baker, Brenner Hohenstein, Tony Lockman, Ben (Kirsten) Lockman, and Beau, Drew and Rylee Hohenstein; great grandson, Luke Lockman; and sisters-in-law, Carol Ritz and Carole (Ronnie) Rudenick.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; sisters, Darlene Mack and Valora (Marvin) Gieseke; brother, Kenneth Ritz; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Gerald) Quilling.
