Delores Phelps

Delores Phelps, age 81, of Mapleton, died on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Mapleton Community Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy. Interment will be at Sterling Cemetery in rural Blue Earth County.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Delores Arlene, the daughter of John and Martha (Schull) Jaeger, was born on June 15, 1938 in Mapleton Township. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1956. She earned her Bachelors of Education from Mankato State College in 1959. Delores married Raymond Phelps on August 6, 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. She taught Business, English and Art at Madelia, Garden City, Wellcome Memorial and Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial. After a day of teaching, she would come home and drive tractor on the farm. Since 1983, Delores has played the organ for five local churches. She was in bridge club, three pfeffer card clubs and marathon bridge club. Delores enjoyed camping and fishing with her family.

She is survived by her husband Ray Phelps; sons, Dean (Brenda) Phelps and Gene Phelps; grandchildren, Andrew, Henry and Lucy Phelps; sisters, Ardis Keller and Audrey Hislop; and sister in law, Gweth Jaeger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert Jaeger; and brothers in law, William Keller and Harv Hislop.
