Deloris “Dee” H. Freier, age 93, of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Lake Crystal Mortuary is handling arrangements. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice.
Deloris, daughter of Theodore and Annette (Ulmer) Weidenbach was born January 31, 1930, in Menno, SD. She graduated from Scotland High School and nursing school in St. Paul, MN. She was united in marriage to Ernest “Ernie” E. Freier on September 22, 1950, in Scotland, SD.
Dee moved to Lake Crystal when Ernie began teaching. Dee worked for some time as a part time RN at the Immanuel Hospital in Mankato. Later she became a sales representative for Amway. Dee was very active in the community, with organizations such as the Porkettes, Lioness, and the Red Cross. She also served on many committees within the First Presbyterian church both local and regional level. Dee volunteered her nursing skills for summer camps and the Blue Earth County Fair. Dee enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, bingo, and spending time with her family.
Dee is survived by her five children, Theresa Kopischke of North Mankato, Jerry Freier of Sherburn, Karen (Lee) Bouma of Mesa, AZ, and Mary (Mike) Haugsby of Eden Prairie; nine grandchildren, Carrie, Amie, Neena, Lisa, Brad, Katie, Matt, Luke, and Adam; seventeen great-grandchildren, David, Skyler, Alicia, Yanamarie, Bianca, Valencia, Mason, Gage, Ty, Emily, Addison, Max, Kole, Alina, Ashton, Paxton, and Addison; great-great grandson, Mateo; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Annette; husband, Ernie on October 31, 2016; daughter, Sharon Freier on November 15, 2016; grandson, Christopher Hultgren on August 31, 2016; three brothers, Lavern Mutschelknaus, Arnold Ulmer, and Melvin Ulmer; one sister, Edna Mogck; and extended family.
