Delpha Jean Skelly, 94, passed away on January 3, 2025 in Mankato, MN. Delpha was born on September 3, 1930 in Mankato to Andrew and Berniece (Moore) Holmgren. 

Memorial service will be held 11:00a.m, Friday, January 10, 2025 at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will take place at Woodland Hills Memorial Park at a later date. 

Delpha graduated from Mankato High School in 1950 and worked at Purity Castle Café, where she met Floyd in 1949. The couple married June 24, 1950 in Mankato. She worked for many different companies including: the Telephone Company, Pepsi Cola, Continental Can, and Midwest Electric. After her retirement, Delpha volunteered for many years at the MRCI Thrift Store and served on their board of directors. She also, volunteered to be a Cub Scout Leader and Camp Fire Leader for her children. 

Delpha was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She was also known for her delicious cookies. Delpha baked several batches of cookies every Saturday morning. Everyone entering the house knew where the cookie jars were located. Delpha was quite the seamstress. She sewed her and her children’s clothes throughout the years, including her daughters’ wedding dresses. After the children were grown, she enjoyed quilting and knitting Afghans. Her talented hands were always busy creating something. She enjoyed playing Bridge with several different Bridge clubs, gardening, reading, and spending quality time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the perfect Mother and Grandmother. Delpha will be deeply missed by her family. 

Delpha is survived by her husband, Floyd Skelly; Children: Steven Skelly (Pam) Clermont, FL; Deborah Steenhard Kenyon, MN; Gail Connelly (Bruce) Mankato, MN; Scott Skelly (Brenda) Mankato, MN; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Delpha is proceeded in death by her parents, Andrew and Berniece Holmgren; son, Russell Skelly; son-in-law, Doug Steenhard; sister, Beverly Hibbard (Ronald); and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
