Dennis L. Neff, age 73, of Mankato, died, Monday, October 21, 2019.

Memorial Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2019 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato.  Interment with military honors will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.  Memorials may be given to the Morson-Ario VFW Post #9713.

Dennis Lee Neff was born to Darwin and Mary (Otto) Neff on March 28, 1946 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1964. Dennis was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division as an infantryman in the Vietnam War, where he operated as a door gunner in a helicopter. He was awarded numerous medals while serving, including the combat infantry badge. While on leave, he married Patricia Nieting on June 14, 1968 in Hawaii. When he returned from Vietnam he was stationed in New York. In 1971, Dennis was honorably discharged from the Army and he and his wife returned to Ft. Dodge. In 1972, they moved to Mankato, Minnesota where they raised four children. During this time, Dennis worked for North Star Concrete and the City of Mankato. On October 12, Dennis entered hospice care. He died on October 21, at the age of 73.

Dennis enjoyed bowling and fastpitch softball. He enjoyed watching his favorite baseball teams, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and many of his Sundays were spent watching the Nascar races.

Dennis is remembered by his four children, Laura (Tom) Wood of New Prague, MN, Deb (Jon) Grams of Balsam Lake, WI, Dan (Vicky) Neff of Plymouth, MN and Megan (Paul) Lewis of Eagan, MN; 11 grandchildren; and his sister, Marsha (Steve) Smith of Ft. Dodge, IA.

He was preceded into death by his wife, Patricia, and his parents.
