Dennis “Denny” Volk, 71, of Mankato, died Thursday, February 29th, 2024, at his home in Mankato.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 16th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church Hall, 423 W 7th St, Mankato. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Dennis was born April 15, 1952, in Mankato to Fred and Rosella (Wilson) Volk. On June 24th, 1978, he married Sherry Wiebold at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato. Dennis worked at the City of Mankato Parks and Recreation department for 38 years and owned Volk’s Tree Services for 30 years. He and Sherry were longtime members at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato.
Dennis a much beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He would do anything to help others and truly had a heart of gold.
Dennis loved his muscle cars. He owned a 66 Chevelle, two 69 Camaros, and a 73 Corvette, and loved to race his cars down Front Street in Mankato. He enjoyed going to Nascar races in Kansas, Michigan, and Talladega. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling on TV and loved to play cards with family and friends.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sherry of Mankato; two sons Gary (Monica) Volk of Carver and Jesse Volk of Mankato; grandson Jordan Volk; granddaughter Sydney Volk; sister, Kay Nielsen; and brother Mark (Cheryl) Volk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roger Volk and Paul Volk; and sister Janet Schwecke.
