Derek Michael Lindely

Derek Michael Lindely, age 30, of Mankato died on Saturday, August 21st due to injuries sustained from a UTV accident.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 632 South Broad St., in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive North Mankato, MN. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family strongly encourages memorials to the donor’s choice.

Derek was an avid sports fan, especially loved all things hockey, and enjoyed going to country concerts. When he wasn’t watching hockey or catching up on the latest hockey trades and deals signed, he would be found kicking his friends’ butts in Call of Duty with a Mtn Dew next to him. After graduating from Mankato East in 2009 he attended Minnesota State University, Mankato and graduated in 2014. He worked in IT at Compeer Financial (formerly AgStar Financial) for eight years, where he met his wife Megan (Murray) Lindely. Derek and Megan’s love for each other was unmatched by any other couple, taking every opportunity to share with one another how much they cared for and loved the other. They were married in Mankato on September 26th, 2020 and had great plans for their life together. The two completed each other and spent as much time as possible together during their three short years.

Derek was an amazing husband, son, brother, friend, and coworker and leaves behind many that loved him dearly. Derek is survived by his wife, Megan, parents, Deb and Duane Lindely (all of Mankato), brother, Dan Lindely (Blaine, MN), paternal grandmother, Marlene Lindely (Wells, MN), Megan’s parents, Paul and Michelle Murray (North Bend, WI), brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Connor and Elizabeth Rumpca (Onalaska, WI), Megan’s maternal grandparents, Gary and Alyce Erickson (Onalaska, WI) numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a very close-knit group of friends.

Preceding Derek in death are his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Delores Redman, and paternal grandfather, Arthur Lindely. All who had the opportunity to get to know Derek will miss his snarky (but hilarious) comments, wonderful smile, and the ability to make those close to him feel like the most important part of his life.
