Dolores “Dee” Ruth Kent, age 95 of North Mankato passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Funeral service will be 3:00pm, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Mankato with visitation one hour prior at the church as well. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. Dolores was born December 8, 1925 to Carl & Esther (Franke) Asmus at Gaylord, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Gaylord, MN.  She attended Immanuel Lutheran School at Gaylord for grades 1 – 8 and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1943.  She was employed by HA Knobel an attorney in Gaylord from 1946 – 1950.

On September 23, 1950 she married Gordon Kent of Mankato at Gaylord, MN and moved to North Mankato where she lived for 70 years.  They were blessed with 5 children.  She was employed as a bookkeeper and later office manager at Hillcrest Health Care Center from February, 1970 to March, 1988 when she retired.  She has been a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato since October, 1950.  During this time she served as a VBS teacher, senior choir member, later the Christus Choir, member of LLL group and widow to widow group.  She was an avid bowler having bowled for 55 years.  She was inducted into the Mankato Area Bowling Hall of Fame in 2014.  She loved her flowers and gardening, fishing, times at the lake, playing cards, crossword puzzles, stamp & coin collecting and was a devoted TWINS fan.  She enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving her are her children, Robert (Lynne) Kent of Mankato, Gloria (Jerry) Knatcal of Rapidan, Dean Kent of Mankato, Merlin (Pam) Kent of Plymouth, MN and Kevin Kent of North Mankato; six grandchildren, Cory, Dylan, Karl, Ross & Kendra Kent and Stacy Knatcal; three step-grandchildren, Tonya (Justin) Johnson of Omaha, AR, Tammy (Patrick) Davis of Overland Park, KS and TJ (Anisha) Knatcal of Rush City, MN; eleven step-great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lydia, Luke, Simeon & Asher Johnson, Jaella & Kai Davis and Titus, Miles, Nolan & Nayna Knatcal; brother, Rev Gerhardt (Lorraine) Asmus of Neosho, MO; sister-in-law, Mierva Asmus of Gaylord, MN and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon in 2009; sister & her husband, Gertrude (Alfred) Bogatzki; brother, Edgar Asmus and grandchild, Kyle Kent.

She will be greatly missed by her family & friends.
