Donald E. Roth, age 70, of Lake Crystal, died February 16, 2021 at his home.
A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held July 31, with a casual service at Cornerstone Methodist Church, Lake Crystal at 2:00 p.m., followed by a time for family and friends to visit at his home, 212 North Crystal St., Lake Crystal. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Crystal Waters Project, Cornerstone Methodist Church, or benefactor of the donor’s choice. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Don was born October 3, 1950 to John Wesley and Joan Elizabeth (Norman) Roth in Mankato. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1969 and attended Southwest State University. Don was united in marriage to his HS sweetheart, Janet Derksen on June 5, 1976 on the shores of Crystal Lake. He worked at Crysteel Mfg. for over forty years before retiring in 2016. Don’s true passion however was farming, harvesting his last crop in 2020.
Don will be remembered for his great smile that he shared with everyone he met and enduring friendships. He was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing a variety of sports. Don enjoyed coaching softball, wrestling, and baseball with his children and supporting his children and grandchildren as they participated in their many activities. He loved the great outdoors, spending time at the cabin, hunting, fishing, and playing with his children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and extended family. He was an om of the bfc.
Don is survived by his wife, Jan; three children, Mandy (Pat) Weisbrich of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Zac (Ashley) Roth of Anchorage, Alaska, and Zeb (Roxy) Roth of Lake Crystal; eight grandchildren, Anika, Jonah, and Lydia Weisbrich, Hadley and Sawyer Roth, Asher, Beckett, and Chip Roth; four siblings, Susan (Don) Campbell, Steve (Kathy) Roth, Jerry Roth all of Lake Crystal, Deb (Mark) Fredrickson of Waconia; three brothers-in-law, Jon (Sue) Derksen, Jim (Heather) Derksen, and Jay (Sharon) Derksen; many favorite nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Marlene Eiselt; and special aunts and uncles.
