Donna Mae McGregor

Donna Mae McGregor, age 77, of Mapleton, died Monday, May 18, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Donna was born June 28, 1942 in Wells, MN to Erwin and Gladys (Hicks) Zabel. She was raised in Minnesota Lake and graduated from high school in 1960. After high school, she moved to the cities to study dental hygiene. Donna was united in marriage to Robert McGregor on November 23, 1962 in Minnesota Lake and they were blessed with three children. For 27 years, Donna worked as a dietary aid at the Mapleton Community Home until she retired in 2004.

Donna was a faithful woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She enjoyed gambling, working on puzzles, reading, playing cards, board games, Scrabble, and baking. Above all, Donna loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted grandma and adored her two grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her children, John (Brenna) McGregor of Delavan, Sherry (Bud) Erdner of Wells, and Matthew (Kari) McGregor of Mapleton; grandchildren, Christopher and McKenna McGregor; siblings, Janet Stradtman, Glen Zabel, Margaret (Mike) Kennedy, and Vern (Vickie) Zabel; sisters-in-law, Shirley Jaeger and Rachel Zabel; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and brothers, Dale, Dean, and Wayne Zabel.
